Intermediation Capabilities of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Ghana’s Agricultural Extension System

Information and communication technologies (ICTs), specifically those that are digital interactive, present opportunities for enhanced intermediation between actors in Ghana’s agricultural extension system. To understand these opportunities, this study investigates the capabilities of ICTs support seven forms context extension: disseminating (information), retrieving harvesting matching (actors to services), networking (among actors), coordinating (actors), co-creating actors). The identifies types currently functioning system, applies a Delphi-inspired research design determine consensus dissensus researchers, scientists, practitioners about potential each capabilities. findings reveal experts reached interactive voice response (IVR) have highest disseminating, retrieving, harvesting, matching. Meanwhile, social media messaging (SMM) seen as highly capable supporting and, lesser extent, co-creating, but no is on any networking.
